- soda crackers
- ¼ cup
- water
- 60 ml
- 3 tbsp
- milk
- 45 ml
- 1 tbsp
- maple syrup
- 15 ml
- 1 tsp
- onion powder
- ½ tsp
- dried oregano
- ½ tsp
- salt
- ¼ tsp
- garlic powder
- 1
- pinch ground allspice or nutmeg
- 1 lb
- lean ground pork
- 450 g
- Softened butter or oil, for cooking
Preparation
- Step 1
- In a bowl, crumble the soda crackers as finely as possible. Add the water, milk, maple syrup, spices and salt. Let soak for 2 minutes. Add the meat and mix well with your hands. Season with pepper. Refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight or use immediately (see note).
- Step 2
- Divide the mixture into 16 pieces. Shape into meatballs. With lightly oiled hands, flatten the meatballs into patties.
- Step 3
- Preheat the raclette grill (on either the ribbed or flat side) on medium heat. Once the cooking grill is hot, brush with some softened butter or oil.
- Step 4
- Cook half of the patties at a time on the hot grill until cooked through, about 4 minutes on each side. Serve plain or covered with melted cheese.
Variation
- For best results, refrigerate the meat mixture for 24 hours. However, it can also be used immediately.
- The patties can also be cooked in an air fryer. Place the patties in the air fryer basket lined with parchment paper and cook for 6 minutes at 375°F (190°C).
