Preparation

Step 1
Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Step 2
Meanwhile, remove sausage casings. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat and fry sausage meat until cooked and golden brown. Add garlic, red pepper, shallots, and mushrooms and continue frying for 3 to 5 minutes.
Step 3
Add cream and cheese and stir until mixture is even and creamy.
Step 4
Add pennine and basil and serve.
