- package white mushrooms, sliced

- cream cheese

- slices provolone
- 4
- slices cheddar
- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Chopped lettuce, to taste
Preparation
- Step 1
- Light a fire and let the logs burn until you’ve obtained some glowing embers.
- Step 2
- On a grill set over the fire, heat the oil in a cast iron pan and brown the chicken.* Season with salt and pepper.
- Step 3
- Add the onions and mushrooms, then sauté, stirring occasionally until golden brown. Stir in the water and cream cheese. Adjust the seasoning and continue cooking for a few minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Step 4
- Open the buns and toast. Fill with the chicken mixture, provolone and cheddar slices, then garnish with lettuce. Close the sandwiches and place them on the grill to reheat.
Variation
*Note: you can also place the pan directly on the embers, alternating cooking between the burning embers and the perimeter of the fire when the heat is too high.
